The Khasi tribe in north eastern India is ruled by women. Men do the house keeping and daily chores. Children take the names of their mothers and the youngest daughter in the family inherits the family’s belongings. However, the Khasi men are now campaigning for gender equality but prefer to remain anonymous due to fear of backlash by their wives and in-laws.
